Jot Magazine August Something Board

This month on the Jot Blog we've mixed it  up a little and have a new type of challenge for you to join in with.  It's the August Something Board (formerly the Jot Mood Board)!

It's such a pretty board isn't it?  Here's what I came up with for the challenge...

For my "Something Stripey" I used some black and white striped washi tape an my "Something Bold" was by bold black title.

My "Something Glittery" was this pretty glittery slide frame and this also covered "Something Gold" along with the gold sequins and doily too.

Check out the Jot Blog HERE for details on how you can enter the challenge too.  We can't wait to see what you create!!!
Thanks so stopping by! :)

Jot Mood Board Challenge - June 2014

One of the best things about the start of each month is that there's always a new mood board challenge over on the Jot Blog to get into!  Check out this month's gorgeous mood board that the lovely Kim Archer has put together for us...

Oh this colour combo is just SO PRETTY!!!  I had so much fun going through my stash to find lovely minty coloured things to use on my page!  Here's the page I came up with...

This was a photo I had snapped on my iphone a couple of years ago which I changed to black and white to use on my page.  Madi was super proud to get this trophy for dancer of the week so it was defintely a photo I HAD to scrap! :)

Here are a couple of closeups...

We'd love for you to join in this month's challenge too!  You can check out all the details HERE and also see the beautiful layouts the other Jot Girls came up with! ;)

Happy First Birthday Jot!

It's Jot Magazine's First Birthday and Issue 6 is out now!  Kim has outdone herself putting this issue together and already people are saying it's the best issue yet!. It's packed full of so many gorgeous projects and fantastic articles...and you can read right now online for FREE!!!

I'm also super excited that one of my projects is on the cover gift box!  It was such an wonderful surprise!  :)

I created my gift box by first wrapping the box in text paper, adding a strip of yellow and white spotty fabric around the middle, then I wrapped yellow yarn around the centre and attached a big yellow pom pom on top.  I used a two and a half inch Clover pom pom maker which made it super simple to create a perfect pom pom with minimal trimming needed.  (I think every crafter needs one!)  I then made a white, embossed tag with a stamped hello speech bubble and butterfly.

I'll have more projects to share soon but in the meantime make sure you grab a cuppa and head on over HERE to check out this special first birthday issue of Jot.  You're going to love it!!! :)

Scrappy shares from Jot Issue 5

Have you read Issue 5 of Jot Magazine yet?  If you haven't then why not grab yourself a cuppa and head on over to read it for free HERE.  Once again Kim has produced a beautiful issue filled with papery'll love it!

Today I thought I'd share the layouts I created for this issue.  The first one I made for the Big Bows Gallery...

This photo is the sweetest thing!  We had been to a beautiful family wedding that day and Madi had been excited about trying to catch the bouquet but it went way over her head to the adults behind.  She was so disappointed....but later in the day the groom (her uncle) gave her the gorgeous flower he had been wearing.  It really made Madi's day and made her feel so special!

The kraft envelope on the page holds the story of that day for Madi to read in the years to come.

I made the big bow on my page using this gorgeous yellow chevron ribbon.  (It's such a pretty ribbon I really need to get some more for my stash!)

SUPPLIES| Patterned Paper: Crate Paper.  Alphas:  American Crafts, October Afternoon.  Embellishments: Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Die Cuts, Sticker & Chip Frame, Amy Tangerine button, Maya Road Kraft Envelope, Prima Flowers.  Other: button, date stamp, white tag, thread, black ink, chevron ribbon.

Next I created this page for the Hello Handsome Gallery.  These photos were also taken at the wedding we attended.  It was so fun seeing the boys all dressed up in their suits for the first time ever!

I love that my boys are also the best of friends.  Sure they have their moments but they usually get along so well and they're so funny together!  I'm hoping like crazy it continues as they get older...fingers crossed!

SUPPLIES|  Patterned Paper: Basic Grey, Echo Park.  Alphabets:  American Crafts, Basic Grey, Echo Park.  Wood Veneers:  American Crafts Amy Tangerine, Studio Calico.  Other Embellishments: Crate Paper Chip Sticker, Echo Park Chip Sticker, Pink Paislee Artisan Shape, Crate Paper Vellum Garland, Typo Tags.  Other:  twine, button, small white tag, thread

Issue 6 of Jot is just around the corner and will be a special first birthday celebration edition!  We've been busily working on lots of new projects in preparation and you can submit your work too!  You can see all the Issue 6 submission themes HERE and to find out how to submit your projects.  :)

Jot Mood Board Challenge - April 2014

A new month means a new mood board challenge over on the Jot Blog.  This one was put together by Jot Girl Lauren and it's just so pretty!

Lots of pretty pinks, greys and silver...I loved working with these colours!

I've been wanting to scrap these photos for a while now.  They were taken in the June holidays last year when almost every day we would find Madi sitting at the drum kit writing and singing her own songs.  She was in her own little musical wonderful!

Here are a few closeups...

We'd love for you to join in the challenge too!  You can find all the details on the Jot Blog HERE. :)

New Red Panda Helmet!

One of the things I love about running an etsy store is receiving custom orders and recently I was asked to make a red panda.  I've had this one on my idea list for a while so I was excited to finally give it a go! It's always fun to see a new design come together and after a bit of trial and error I think this is my favourite one yet.  Here's my little Red Panda Helmet!

After a bit of searching I found the perfect burnt orange coloured yarn at Lincraft. Who knew it would be so tricky to find the right colour?!

Once finished this hat has a lovely fluffy look to it and is so soft! (I love it with this sweet Fashion Smitten dress too!)

I'll be making more of these little guys for my Etsy store very soon. ;)

Crochet Fox Hats for Blythe

I've been making and selling little crochet fox helmets for Blythe dolls in my etsy store for about a year now. I'm so grateful that they've been so popular and that they've become one of my best selling designs.  (Thank you to all my lovely customers!) .

Recently I thought I'd try something a little different with them...and now they come in a fuzzy version too! Here they are side by side...the new fuzzy version and the original plain crochet.

I'll now be making both versions for my etsy store and they can be made in a variety of colours too.

I hope you like my new fuzzy fox hats!  Thanks so much for dropping by. :)

Jot Mood Board Challenge - Feb 2014

Here we are in February already!  Can you believe how fast January flew by?  The kids went back to school this past week and thank goodness everyone is happy with their new classes and enjoying it so far.  Let's hope it stays that way...fingers crossed! that February is here we have a gorgeous new Mood Board challenge for you over on the Jot Blog...yay!  This month is full of lovely coral pinks, rose, orange, green, brown and pretty together!
Here's the sample page I came up with...

I decided to go with a woodgrain background which really helped to make the colours stand out.  I've used some pretty coral pink chevron and green papers behind my photo with a strip of cork paper (inspired by the cute wedges in the mood board). My orange flower was inspired by the floral cushion in the mood board and I've used splashes of orange and blue in my title, photo, string, sequins and bookplate.

My journalling was done using my new Studio Calico roller fun!

I also added more touches of green and orange using buttons and die cut feathers too.

I love how these colours work so well together...

We'd love for you to join in the challenge too!  All you need to do is create your own page/card/project life paper project using the mood board and upload your creation by 28 February 2014.  You can find all the details right HERE.

We can't wait to see what you come up with!  :)
