School, scrapping and no more dummies!

It's been quite a week this week with a couple of big events going on here! The first was a huge step for our little Miss M.... She's been quite attached to her dummy (pacifier) up until now...always asking for it at bedtime or whenever she got upset or tired during the day. I know it's something we should've done ages ago but she loved it and it gave her comfort when she needed it. We'd been planning to get rid of it this weekend anyway since she'll be turning 3...but earlier this week she lost it around the house somewhere. I took the opportunity to get rid of it for good! Yippee!!! (I did find it...but it's now long gone...hee hee hee) We're now officially a dummy-free household...but it also means our baby is growing up...and too fast! She really does look so grown up in this photo...her extra long hair makes her look older I think. :)

Of course the second big event this week was the boys starting school for the year. Here they are looking very handsome in their uniforms ready to go! :)

Ayden has gone into Grade 2 and couldn't wait to start! He's got a lot of his old friends in his class so he's very happy. For Riley it was his very first day of Prep. He was so excited all morning...all giggly. It was so funny! We were really worried about how he'd go once we had to leave him but he amazed us with not even a tear in sight! To say it was a huge relief would be an understatement... it also meant no tears from me. :) Thank goodness! He has a couple of his kindy friends in his class so I'm glad he has some familiar faces around him..and I'm sure he'll make more little friends in no time!

I've been managing to squeeze a little creating in amongst it all here and there too. This is a layout I scrapped for Lydell's sketch challenge over at Scrapz Biz last week..

Then there was this one I created for Melleny's 'What's Cooking' challenge...

One of the 'ingredients' was to use lots of numbers...the first thing I thought of was to finally use this numbers paper from my stash. We also had to use at least 3 buttons so I gave the monsters little button balloons to hold onto. :) I think the other two ingredients were cardstock and 4 photos. It was fun to do this see-through layout! I think when I add it to Riley's album though I'll probably back it with some kraft.

This week I've set the 'What's Cooking' challenge! If you'd like to give it a go you can find all the details HERE, or just click HERE to see all the other challenges for this week. Here's my sample layout...

This was Ayden 2 years ago on his first day of Prep. I know...I'm a little behind on scrapping school pics! LOL At least I've made a start! Oh he was so little back then...

I think that's about it from me tonight. Hope you're all having a great week! If you had children starting or going back to school this week too I hope it all went well!

Kids, cards and a little scrapping...

I'm really enjoying these school holidays...having my three home together...

They really do have such a great time playing and spending time together. I think Madi's really going to feel it once school starts. Riley will be starting Prep this year so she's going to be home alone with Mum. It's going to be fun to have some one-on-one time with her this year...but she will miss Riley. We've still got another week of holidays though so we'll make the most of it!

Now for a little scrapping... The weekly challenges have started up for 2010 over at Scrapz Biz starting today... and I've come up with our 'Noteworthy' challenge to create some cards using handcut shapes. Here are my samples...

I had lots of fun with these...and LOVE the October Afternoon Farm Fresh papers! There's a little Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday thrown in too. :) Here are some close-up pics...

If you'd like to enter the challenge just click HERE for all the details.

I also have these to share....

The first is a layout I created for one of the Biggest Loser comp at Scrapz last week. The challenge was to do something a little different with buttons on your I used them for the sun, in the tree, in my title and for the little button snail down the bottom there...

Then the other day I threw this one together just for fun...Love that cheeky photo of makes me smile. :)

That's it from me today...hope you're having a good week!

December Daily Days 20-25 and more...

Whoops! I didn't mean to leave it so long to post again...but I've been busy doing a super-dooper cleaning and sorting blitz on my scraproom thanks to the Scrapz Biz Biggest Loser comp! My room hasn't looked so tidy and organised in ages...feels great!

I've finally finished my December Daily album! Yay!!!!! This is the first time I've created one of these albums and I don't think it'll be the last. It'll be so nice to get it out again next Christmas to look at again...and in the years to come. :)

I think I had already shown you up to Day 19 in my previous posts...

Day 20: Today we made these reindeer faces that I'd seen somewhere on the internet. The kids had so much fun tracing their hands and feet and seeing them come together.

Day 21: Both the boys were feeling a bit off colour so it was a quiet day in front of the tv.

Day 22: We made chocolate playdough! It smelled soooo good and the kids had so much fun with it.

Day 23: We gave the kids an early Christmas bikes! They had a ball riding up and down the street on them...although Madi still has no idea how to use the pedals (luckily it has a push-along handle for us to help her along). There is a little booklet on the page holding the photos and journalling being held closed with the little string bow.

Day 24: Christmas Eve! We headed up to my parents' place for the night. Dad always does such a great job with their Christmas lights! We had a nice relaxed day with them, followed by a night in front of the tv watching Christmas carols.

Day 25: Christmas Day!!!! Our day started extremely early when Ayden found that Santa had been. There were lots of presents to open, loads of yummy food, lots of fun swimming in the pool...and it was so lovely to have all the family together for Christmas dinner.

So there you have it! My 2009 December Daily album is all done. (I'm thinking I might still add in a pocket page at the end to hold the gorgeous handmade cards I received from friends....I don't want to lose them!)

I do have a few other projects to share with you too...all challenges from the Scrapz Biggest Loser comp that's running at the moment. I'll try to keep it brief...

This first challenge was to create a layout using things found on your desk. I'd had these photos, embellies and things sitting around for good to say it's done now!

This challenge was to use up scraps and create a patchwork background. I created two pages for this one...

Heike gave us a link to this super easy gift box. I think I'll be making more of these! (The link can be found in the forum.)Another challenge was to scraplift yourself....I've used this design quite a few times! LOLThe school holidays are flying by so quickly aren't they? We've had a pretty quiet time but enjoyed every minute of it so far. We had a visit yesterday from Paul's brother John, his wife Leigh and their gorgeous little man Noah. The kids were so excited to see their cousin! We hadn't seen them in a while and he's grown so was great to catch up with them. :)

I guess I should leave it there...this post is long enough!!! Thanks so much for dropping by!

Can you believe it's 2010? Where on earth did 2009 go? It doesn't seem that long ago that we were celebrating the year 2000! Anyway... I hope that you had a great day to start the new year!

We had a pretty quiet night last night. The kids were in bed at the usual time, then Paul and I watched a couple of dvd's and saw the fireworks on tv. The fireworks were fantastic once again! It must've been amazing to actually be there at Sydney Harbour to see it all live! We spent today with family and friends. The kids swam and played, and we had a BBQ dinner. Yum!

Over at Scrapz Biz we're starting the New Year with this...

Why not pop over and join in? I know my scraproom and stash can use an overhaul and it's going to feel great to be all organised to start the year! (Plus there are some prizes up for grabs!)

I'm off to bed I think. I'm still recovering from our late night last night! LOL I'll be back soon with some more December Daily. (Just need to get a few pics printed so I can finish it off!)

Wishing you and your family a wonderful, safe and prosperous 2010!!!
