Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Well, it's all over for another year.... all that preparation and planning and it seems to be over so quickly!! Anyway, we had a fantastic Christmas Day! Ayden was the first one awake... I heard him creeping down the hall to look under the tree, then him running at full speed to come and wake us up to tell us that Santa had been! He was just so excited! It took a little bit of effort to wake up Riley (he was still sound asleep) but once he got to the loungeroom his eyes widened and so the unwrapping began! Madi woke up about 5 minutes later....she wasn't quite sure what was going on but she loved the tearing of the paper and soon got into it all.

Everyone was more than happy with what they got - Santa knows his stuff! Ayden was rapt with his transformers, Riley loved his Thomas things, and Madi's faves where her Dora dolls (she ended up with a few...) and her ball popper! They got lots of other things too.... very spoiled! We all enjoyed a scrummy lunch with lots of prawns and ham, ate way too much, then relaxed for the rest of the day (while the kids played with their new toys of course!) Both my brothers popped in with their families too during the day which was great.

Just thought I'd pop in a couple more photos of Madi - since it was her very first Christmas! She's just learned to do 'Cheers' with her cup - so cute!

And a couple of pics of her presents.... can't wait to get some super cute pics of her in that tutu!

And one more....sound asleep... all worn out from her big day...

Hope everyone had a wonderful day full of family, food, friends, fun and laughter!! Thanks for dropping by!

The Santa Photo...

Paul and I realised last night that we hadn't taken the kids to see Santa yet!! So this morning we made it our mission and off to our local David Jones we went. Well, it started off ok.... there wasn't a huge line like we thought and the kids were all so well behaved while we waited.... then it was our turn to see Santa.... WHAT A DRAMA!! Madi took one look at Santa and started to scream and Riley didn't want to go anywhere near him! LOL! Ayden was the only one eager to have a chat and happily sat on Santa's knee and put his order in for Christmas (a Transformer of course!). So, as always I ended up in the photo and it took lots of squeeky balls, blowing bubbles and Paul dancing around like a looney behind the camera to finally get all the crying to stop and get a decent photo!! I'm the one that ended up looking dopey!!! LOL!! Ahhh well.... another year's Santa pic done... hopefully next year we'll manage to get a photo without me in it!!

Only 4 more sleeps to go!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!

Happy Mail!

Just look at what I found in my letterbox today!! (Don't you love that cute Christmas tag?!)

A Christmas prezzie from my gorgeous friend Mardi!! Lucky me! (I know I'm naughty for opening it already but I just couldn't wait!!)

It's the very first page of a friendship album! I LOVE IT! (Thankyou so much Mardi!) Now all I have to do is decorate the cover and start adding to it! Such a wonderful idea and what a fantastic thing to have! If anyone would like to join in and add to my album I'd be more than happy to do a page in return if you'd like to start up your own.... (Of course... after Christmas when everyone's got more time would probably be more convenient! LOL!)

How was everyone's weekend? We had a busy one (like everyone else I'm sure).... I worked Saturday morning but then we had a lovely afternoon BBQ over at Leanne's place. The kids all had a ball swimming and watching Jacob play his playstation and they all got along so well! Madi was quite taken with their gorgeous dog Jed... she couldn't keep her eyes off him! Paul and Stuart had never met before so it was a great chance for them to meet and get to know each other a little. The kids all got a little prezzie from Leanne - they thought that was awesome! (Thanks again for a great afternoon Leanne... our place next time!)

We spent all day yesterday over at Mum & Dad's place - had another BBQ, the kids had more swimming... another great day! Mum & Dad have really 'decked the halls', well the front of their house anyway, with HEAPS of Christmas lights so I can't wait to get the kids over there on Christmas Eve to see them all! (We couldn't see them during the day of course...) Very festive!

Hope everyone is finished their shopping and getting organised for Christmas... I'm almost done... just a bit of wrapping to do.... Merry Christmas!!

My little "cleaners"...

Well, I'm doing the washing up this afternoon and the kids were all playing in the boys' room. I'm thinking "Gee they're being so good in there! Maybe I'll go and peek around the corner and see what they're up to...". I could hear them chatting so nicely to one another with Madi adding her usual cute little babbles to the mix.... I dried my hands and went to have a little look.... only to find this!!!

OMG!!!!! They were having such a lovely time! Ayden was there with his spray bottle of water (not so bad) but there's Riley with the spray bottle of SUNSCREEN!!!!! They had both helped themselves... grabbed their face washes and were merrily "cleaning" their wardrobe doors... WHAT A MESS!!!!! (Of course...as any scapper would... I had to reach for my camera... Paul was asleep so I had to have some evidence after I cleaned it all up!) It took quite a bit of paper towel and Windex to finally get rid of the smeary mess... luckily there was nothing on the carpet! Oh boy.......I'm sure I'll laugh about it later....

I guess while I'm here I may as well do an update for the rest of the week as well...

Madi is going really well in the walking department! She's waddling around all over the place now and is starting to get quite confident - lucky she wears a nappy thought otherwise she'd have a bruised bottom from plopping down onto it all the time!

We took the kids to see "Bee Movie" last weekend. It was great! The boys loved it and Riley even managed to sit through the entire movie! Madi on the other hand got quite restless during the last half but we wandered around up the back of the cinema so still caught the end.

Not much else to tell otherwise really.... I've been making a few Christmas gifts for some of the family - sorry I can't post any pics until after Christmas ... (don't want to spoil the surprise for them!)so that's kept me pretty busy... also worked yesterday... I'd love to be making a couple more things tonight but by the looks of my ironing basket (there's actually 2 of them!!) I guess I'd better tackle that instead... BORING!!

Hope everyone else is doing something a little more exciting than me tonight!

Madi's first steps!

That's right - Madi took her first official steps this morning! She started off with 3 steps walking to Daddy and by this afternoon she was doing 7-8 steps! What a clever girl - she was very proud of herself - and so were we!

(She's only 10 months (& 6 days) - just growing up way too fast!) It was great that Paul was home today to see it all happen....

It feels like I've had such a busy week this week..... Doctor's visit early in the week (to check up on Madi's ear), worked all day yesterday, working on Christmas gifts and cards that I've been making, housework, shopping.... the last few days seem like a blur! This morning though Leanne picked me up and we met Roz at a lovely cafe overlooking the beach at Currumbin. What a beautiful spot... nice breeze, gorgeous views and great company... not to mention the delicious fruit smoothies! It was great! None of us thought to take a camera though... that was dumb... maybe next time...

I'm off to the post office tomorrow to get all my Chrissie cards posted off and maybe I'll do a little more shopping too. I've almost finished off my present shopping (thank goodness!), just need one or two things and I'm done. I'm feeling quite organised this year!

Madi's asleep so I might take the opportunity and do a little more stitching before she wakes up again... and The Amazing Race starts tonight on TV - can't miss that! I love that show! Better get the boys into bed quick smart.... byeeeee!

That's more like it!

WOOHOO! I've finally got my hubby's clean-shaven face back! (Can you tell he didn't want to have his photo taken?)

Paul and the guys from Careflight all had the big shave on Friday to mark the end of "Movember". They all headed in to the 92.5 Gold FM radio station to have their mo's shaved off on air! It was very funny - Bridget (the radio host) said "I don't know if I wanna shave Paul's off.... he looks like a cross between Magnum PI and Baby John Burgess!" (LOL!) Here's a few pics....

She was trying to read out the gossip segment while shaving Paul's face at the same time so it was a little scary for Paul! lol They had the local news cameras there too so they made it to the tv as well that afternoon. Celebrities for the day.... I'm just glad the mo is finally gone!! (so is Paul for that matter... it was driving him crazy!)

We've spent the weekend decorating the house for Christmas. I just LOVE Christmas!!! It really is my favourite time of year... So the tree is up (well actually we've got 3 trees this year - there's the big one in the lounge and we've also got a couple of smaller ones in the foyer and the kitchen bench), the stockings are hung, the wreath is on the door.....now for the outdoor lights.... well we would've put the lights up today but Paul can't find them since we've moved... so until we find them in the garage the house is looking a little dark at night. Hopefully we find them soon... regardless the house is feeling quite festive!

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend! I'll be enjoying my Christmas tree lights tonight while I'm working on one of the many projects I've got on the go at the moment.... (I need more hours in the day!)

Happy Birthday Paul!!

Well it was his birthday yesterday I just didn't get to blog about it until today! We had a pretty quiet day since Paul was doing nightshift last night. We started the day with a pancake brekkie (it's become a birthday tradition in our house) then we went out later in the morning for coffee (Paul loves his flat white with just a squirt of caramel flavour) and muffins (chocolate mud of course!). We would've gone out for dinner if Paul didn't have to work... we did have a little cake before he went though. Here's a pic of him and the kids.... check out that mo!!!! He's taking part in "Movember" at Careflight....2 more days and off it comes!!! (Can't wait!LOL)

The boys absolutely love blowing out the candles on any birthday cake they see...

It was Madi's first encounter with chocolate cake.....she had a ball!! Just look at that cheeky face...

There's a new sketch over at Sketches Oz by Clair Bremner. Clair and the girls have created some gorgeous layouts! This is what I came up with...

It's about how lucky Riley is to still have his front tooth after knocking it out a few months back. The dentist thought it may go black but so far it's hanging in there... we're crossing our fingers it stays that way!

That's about it from me today... Hope everyone has a great evening!

I've got a job!

After 5 years of being a stay-at-home Mum I've got myself a job!!! I wasn't even planning on going back to work just yet and it's all happened so fast I haven't even had the chance to blog about it until now.... the best part is WHERE I'm now working....The Scrapyard!!!!! I'll be doing about 3 days a fortnight with the opportunity to teach some classes next year (a little daunting but exciting at the same time!) and the girls are all so lovely. I have to say I'm still nervous though....... I just can't believe I've got a job in a scrapbooking store and I'm so excited about it! I've only done a 3hr training day so far and there's a fair bit to take in but I'm sure it won't take me long to get into the swing of things (I hope!)... just got to try and get my brain into work-mode again - it's been a while....

I've finally finished sorting out my scraproom today! Here are some before and after pics...

This was a couple of weeks ago...

And now...

(I really love my Clip It Up!)

(Love my ribbon box too - Paul made it for me... There is only one ribbon box - there's a mirrored cupboard door next to it...)

The walls are a bit bare yet but I'll work on that... I'm just glad it's done so now I can get back to scapping and making some Christmas prezzies! I've been doing a few Kim Archer Christmas Spectacular classes and there are some fantastic gift ideas - can't wait to get into making everything now! Just have to decide now what to make first.....

Madi is now officially on the bottle! As of this week I'm no longer breastfeeding her - it's been a gradual thing over the past month or so and she's taken to the bottle no problems at all (thankfully!). So that's it - my last baby - no more breastfeeding... a little sad really ... but I'm so thankful that I was lucky enough to be able to breastfeed each of my kids! Madi's also standing up all by herself now too - it won't be long and she'll be taking her first steps....she's growing up way too fast!

Well this has turned into a marathon post, so that's it from me today! Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Sick kids, new teeth, some layouts and other stuff...

This week has largely been taken up by sick kids! I'm so sick of sickness!!! Ayden picked up a tummy bug from somewhere and it really knocked him around and lasted all week! Poor little man - he was a real trooper though and handled it so well! Madi had a touch of it too - not as bad as Ayden though thank goodness. He seems to be picking up today... I'm crossing my fingers that he's over it!

While I was staying at Mum's place I forgot to post my layout that appeared in issue 60 of For Keeps, so here it is!

Don't ya love that pic of Paul in the middle?! Too funny.... There's fringing right down the left hand side but it's a bit hard to see in the pic.

I think I might have a couple more layouts I haven't shared yet.... let me see.... oh yeah...the last layouts I did for Seriously Scrapbooks before we *moved*! The first one has pics of Riley at Airlie Beach 2 years ago.....

The other one is about the whale cake I made Riley for his first birthday. The day I made it was so HOT and we had a blackout right in the middle of the day.... let's just say baking a cake with no electricity in the heat just isn't my idea of fun... it turned out ok though and he loved it!

Madi got her first 2 teeth this week....FINALLY!!! At 9 1/2 months she now has her two bottom teeth peeking through her gums. It seems like she's been teething forever... poor little girl has been really feeling it with her sore gums and not feeling 100%. Just have to wait for them to grow now so we can get some cheeky pics!

We had Ayden's school orientation on Thursday - very exciting! (He's starting Prep next year.) He seemed to really like the school and even made a couple of friends in the hour we were there which was great and the teachers were really nice and helpful too. He's looking forward to it (I really hope that lasts!). Just have to pick up his uniforms and order his book pack, get some shoes and we're ready to go!

With the kids being sick all week the unpacking of my scraproom went on hold but I've managed to get some done today. When it's finished I'll post a couple of photos. It's so great to have a room all to myself to spread out in - thank goodness the boys love sharing a room! (Not sure how long I'll get away with it though....lol!)

Got a bit more Christmas shopping done this week too, a few more things crossed off the list! I really need to get something for Paul....he's always so hard to buy for!!! I'll have to hound him for ideas...

Well, hope everyone is having a great weekend! Paul is working today and tomorrow so it's really like a Monday today for us instead of Saturday. I'm heading back into my scraproom for some more sorting.... the sooner it's done the sooner I can scrap!

YAY!!! I'm back online.....

We've finally moved into our new place.... we've been unpacking boxes for the last 3 days and I have so say I'm really over it!!! Almost there though.... just my scrap room to go really....

So... I've got a bit of catching up to do! I'll start off with a couple of layouts....

There's a new sketch at Sketches Oz by the lovely Jolene Pienaar. You really should go and have a look at the gorgeous layouts the girls have come up with this fortnight... I'm always amazed at how different our layouts end up even though we're working with the same sketch! So anyway - here's mine...

(Madi is always pulling this face! It really is the cutest thing! She's usually saying 'oooh oooh oooh' at the same time.)

The last sketch was by Vivian Bonder. Again there were some fabulous layouts done by the girls... This is what I came up with...

Oh yeah..... I just realised that I never got to do a blog entry to celebrate Ayden's birthday! He turned a big 5 at the beginning of the month - he's really growing up way too fast for my liking.... time is flying by so fast!

He's right into Transformers at the moment and he's been talking about one in particular for months now - the helicopter he's holding in this pic! He got a few more different transformers as well so he was so happy! All he did all day was play with his new things.

I guess I really should get back to getting these boxes unpacked... it can be so tricky finding a place for everything in a new house! Why don't people include more linen cupboard space when they build houses? I've gone from 2 double door linen cupboards to my now single door cupboard in the laundry.... hmmmmmm.... this could be a problem.....

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm looking forward to catching up on everyone's blogs shortly....

Take care!

This week....

Well, we've been having a lovely time staying at Mum & Dad's place. The boys have had a blast playing with the kids that Mum looks after and swimming in the pool!

Last Friday we headed over to the Jacaranda Festival to watch my little niece dance on stage. She's only 8 but wow she gives an amazing performance every time. I haven't seen her dance since last year and when I saw her come out on stage I have to admit I found myself grinning from ear to ear with a tear in my eye!! (I'm really proud of her!) From the moment she comes out on stage with the other girls she is just beaming and she makes it looks so easy.... she really loves to dance! I'm so glad I was able to get there to see it all....

Saturday we drove back down the coast for the day to Burleigh Beach for little Xayn's 1st birthday (my brother's girlfriend's little boy). It was a gorgeous day down there and the boys always love getting to the beach... although I they ended up in the playground there instead of the water! Lots of fun....

Sunday Mum & I headed in to the Quilt & Craft show in Brissie. For a while we didn't think we were going to get there as Paul didn't get home from work until the afternoon, but we made it in there with a couple of hours to spare. I managed to get some yummy new products that I'd been after so I came home feeling quite happy with myself!

That pretty much sums up the last week or so.... It looks like we'll be moving into our new place around 7 November. Can't wait to get unpacked and back to normal again... I need my scraproom back!!!!

I'll try and put some pics in with my next post. Hope everyone is having an awesome week!

Things are settling down...

Well, we've had time to breathe now and things are starting to settle down. Everyone has been so fantastic and helpful after our little crisis spin-out last week. The real estate agent has found us a place to live ($50 per week more than we were paying but in a great area), and everyone who Paul works with have welcomed him back with open arms. Makes us feel all warm and fuzzy....

Thank you to everyone who took the time to leave comments and well wishes here on my blog. It really means a lot and you are all sooooo supportive and encouraging.... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Isn't this blog world wonderful?

We're staying at Mum and Dad's place for a couple of weeks until we move into our new house - it becomes available around the 5 November so we'll be moving in around then. I'm dreading the whole 'unpacking' thing but can't wait to get settled and get life back to normal.

Can you believe that on Monday the company called Paul again and said "It's all back on now" and wanted him to go ahead as planned?!! We had already gone into crisis mode, found a new house, Paul had asked for his old job back and they expected us to just drop everything again to move to Mackay?! Well - it was kind of an agonising decision with so much money being offered but in the end we just decided to cut ties with them and stay right where we are. What a rollercoaster ride this last week has been! But we're happy with our decision and we'll just have to make the most of what money we do have coming in now - it'll be tricky paying more rent now being on the same money as before but I'm sure we'll work through it...

So anyway - we're going to enjoy our little holiday visiting 'Nanna V & Grandpa' then we'll be into our new place before we know it.... Hope everyone is having a great week!

Take care everyone!

AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I REALLY NEED TO HAVE A BIG WHINGE!!!!! I can't believe what has just happened.....

Things have been really hectic here this week getting ready for our big move (that's why I haven't done an entry lately - sorry!)! We've got the removalist coming on Friday to pack up our stuff ready to go.... and today we get a phone call..... apparently negotiations had fallen through with Paul's new boss and the previous owner of the company so now Paul's contract won't be going ahead....WE'RE NOT GOING TO MACKAY!!!!! TWO DAYS BEFORE OUR REMOVALIST IS COMING THEY TELL US THIS!!!!!! I could just SCREAM!!!! Did noone think it might be a good idea to tell us that the whole deal wasn't guaranteed weeks ago when we were making the big decision to take the job - as far as we knew everything was going ahead and we had no reason to think otherwise!

So now we have to move out of our house with no other house to move into... (they've already rented out this house to other tenants)..... we now can't afford to rent another house in this area because rents have gone up so much over the past year so we have to figure out where we'll be able to move to and find another house..... We've already pulled Ayden out of kindy because we thought we were moving .... we had to pay an extra week's rent for breaking our lease.... we'll have to pay connection fees again for phone and electricity..... all our furniture is going to have to go into storage until we find another place..... I just can't believe the curve ball we've just been thrown....

At least Paul's old employer has been fantastic and allowed him to have his job back here. (Poor Paul - he feels terrible for stuffing them around by resigning and then asking for his job back but they really have been wonderful to him and he does love working with everyone there...)

We're both feeling a bit numb at the moment and still in disbelief..... regardless we still have to get organised for the removalist on Friday so tomorrow will be a busy day. We're going to go and stay at my Mum & Dad's place in Brissie until we can sort ourselves out and get a new place. (Thanks Mum & Dad - what would we do without you?)

Thanks for letting me vent! Hope everyone else's week is going a lot better than ours!!

Here's a few more...

Here's a few more layouts I've done recently. Ayden hasn't quite mastered the word 'spaghetti' yet and calls it 'forghetti'! Of course I had to scrap it....

I sat down with Ayden and asked him what he wanted to do when he grows up. It's so funny the things they come out with! I think my favourite was "Drive a car; a caterpillar car with lots of seats so everyone can fit in", or "be like a tree frog and climb with sticky hands"......funny boy!

And there's this one of Paul and the boys. I've had these photos for ages! They were taken last year when we were living up in Cannonvale. Go glad I've finally scrapped them...

It's been a bit busy here the last few days. There's so much to organise when you move! Just to add to the madness, today we had prospective tenants come and do an inspection.... had to spend the whole morning cleaning and making the place look presentable, all for a 10 minute inspection! At least it's over and done with now, and hey the place looks so neat and tidy!

Leanne popped over this afternoon for a cuppa. Great to catch up! I've been doing a big clean out of my scrapping stash and off-loaded a pile of goodies to her. (I'm expecting to see some layouts soon Leanne!) Feels great to get rid of stuff I've been hoarding for ages.

Better go - Prison Break has started! Time to grab a cuppa...have a great evening everyone!

A few more layouts.....

Thought I'd share a few more layouts....

I took this pic of Riley and I myself just holding the camera out in front of us - I was surprised how well it turned out! Lately he's been running a mile when he sees the camera come out...

I wouldn't normally do a layout about a snail but I just had to record the conversation I had with Ayden after he brought one inside to show me...

I love, love, LOVE this pic of Riley! It was taken about a year ago but it captures his personality perfectly - full of mischief and always looking for fun...

We took the kids to the beach yesterday and they had a great time. We went early morning before it got too hot. The water was freezing when you first got in but after a while it was lovely.

Madi LOVES being on the sand but she just can't help herself - she's gotta eat it! Ewwww! I guess she doesn't have any teeth to crunch on it yet.... still... it's gross!

The boys have a ball in the water. They stay in there for ages - it's hard to get them outta there sometimes!

Other than that, not much else has been happening this weekend. We're starting to pack up a bit, and clean out some stuff - good excuse to get rid of things! I did start some Christmas shopping today... I know noone wants to think about it yet, but I like to start early so I'm not rushing around at the last minute! It's a good time to pick up some gorgeous decorations now too before all the nice ones disappear...

Well... hope you've all had a great weekend!

Some layouts and some big news...

Yay! I can finally share some of the layouts I've done over the past weeks! These were all for Seriously Scrapbooks...

Love this pic of Madi sleeping - so cute!

I've had this photo of Riley sitting around for AGES and finally got around to scrapping it...he was so adorable!

And there's this one of my Mum surrounded by her grandkids (and absolutely loving it!). I don't really like how this turned out.... it looked so much nicer in my head! (Hate it when that happens!)

On the home front we've got some pretty big news. We're moving AGAIN!!! As much as we love it here on the Gold Coast and didn't want to move again, we've found it so hard to get into the housing market. We took a pay cut to move here and it's just not working for us. So when Paul was offered a job (by his old employer up north) it was an opportunity too good to pass up. So... we're heading back up north this time to Mackay! We know the place fairly well because we used to head down there from Airlie Beach for shopping and stuff. Paul will be Chief Pilot this time which will be fantastic experience for him and he's also been offered an instructor's rating as part of the package as well. The extra money will be awesome and we're hoping to really make the most of this move and save, save, save like crazy! Hopefully it'll put us into a much better financial position. We'd love to move back down here eventually - we do enjoy living here and my family are all around Brisbane too - that'll be the worst thing about leaving again... being away from family.(*sniff* *sob*) (And of course.... I'm gonna miss you Leanne!!! Just when I meet a lovely friend like you we up and move! Sorry!) Another down-side is that I've had to resign from my DT position with Seriously Scrapbooks (boo hoo) - a real bummer 'cause I've really enjoyed it.

Paul starts work up there on 25th of this month so we're busy at the moment getting organised for the move. I really HATE packing!!! (I hate unpacking even more!) And I'll be glad when it's all over and done with. At least we should be all settled before Ayden starts school next year.

Well, this post has turned out to be extremely long!! Wasn't planning on that but just couldn't stop typing! Hope everyone has a great evening!
